Cookie Policy
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. The browser sends the file back the next time you visit, so the site can remember a small piece of state — for example, that you already dismissed a banner. Modern sites also use related technologies (local storage, session storage, pixel tags, device-storage APIs); for the purposes of this page, "cookie" means any of these.
Categories of cookies on this site
Analytics (Google Analytics 4)
Every page loads Google Analytics 4, which sets first-party cookies to count visits and distinguish returning browsers. We use the resulting reports in aggregate to see which pages are useful. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy.
No advertising cookies
The site does not show ads and does not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. The site's own scripts (copy buttons, demos, the background generator) do not set cookies.
Cookies in use
| Provider | Purpose | Category | Typical lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
Google Analytics (_ga) | Distinguishes browsers for aggregate visit counts | Analytics | Up to 2 years (Google default) |
Google Analytics (_ga_<container-id>) | Keeps session state for Google Analytics 4 | Analytics | Up to 2 years (Google default) |
How to manage cookies
- Your browser. Every modern browser lets you block cookies, clear existing cookies, or open a private window that does not keep them. The exact menu path differs by browser.
- Google Analytics opt-out. Google offers a browser add-on that stops Google Analytics from collecting data on any site.
Changes to this policy
If the cookie list or categories change, the "Last reviewed" date at the top is updated. For material changes, the site will surface a notice for a reasonable period.
